Welcome to Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. If you have questions that are not addressed below or on the website through the parent log in, call our office at (336) 275-1522.
What is the curriculum?
OLG's curriculum follows the North Carolina standards of learning. The school goes beyond NC standards in scope and depth; our teachers employ a variety of educational approaches to ensure that all students have access to the curriculum. Advanced math classes are available to students in grades 1-8 that allow for students to take Geometry before going to high school.
Is there a music program?
Students attend music classes where they are exposed to different instruments, reading musical notes, and music genres. OLG offers two school singing clubs and music lessons are available through qualified, outside instructors.
Is there a foreign language program?
In grades K-8, students learn Spanish, a language spoken in 22 countries around the world. When students have completed the middle school Spanish curriculum, they will have completed the equivalent of high school level 1 course. Many OLG students start high school in Spanish 2. Public high schools in Guilford County offer Spanish I credit to OLG graduates who have successfully completed our Spanish program in 7th and 8th grade.
Does the school accept non-Catholics?
OLG welcomes applicants of all faiths.
Does OLG school follow the Guilford County Schools' calendar?
OLG does not follow the Guilford County Public Schools' calendar. Mini-camps are offered on Teacher Workdays and over holiday breaks, including Summer Camps over the summer.
Does OLG have a dress code or uniform?
OLG students wear uniforms ordered through Lands' End. The school has a used uniform sale before the beginning of the school year.
How long is the school day?
The K-8 school day is 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Students may arrive as early as 7:40 a.m. at no extra cost. Pre-K students begin at 8:15 a.m. and dismiss at 12:15 p.m. (half-day) and 2:45 p.m. (full day).
Does OLG have before and after school care for students?
OLG offers before AND after school care. For an additional fee, parents may drop off students as early as 7:00 a.m. The After School Care Program offers all students the opportunity to play and study with supervision until 6:00 p.m.
Does OLG serve lunch?
Our in-house cafeteria serves hot lunch each day. Students may bring lunch from home or buy it in the cafeteria. Ordering and paying for lunches can be done on-line or in person.
How do I communicate with my child’s teacher?
Communication is a vital part of any school community, and parents may reach out to teachers via email, phone or notes sent in with the student. There are scheduled opportunities for parents to meet with teachers, but parents may request a conference with a teacher at any point during the year.
Where can I find the forms I need to apply?
Admissions forms are available on-line. If you have difficulty locating these forms, contact the front office at 336-275-1522. Before applicants are considered for acceptance, the documents listed on the checklist must be submitted.
How do I volunteer?
OLG loves its parent volunteers! Some parents are able to join us during the school day as lunch monitors, classroom readers and field trip drivers. In order to protect our students and train parents, those who wish to volunteer must complete the "Protecting God's Children" program and submit paperwork for a background check. Other parents volunteer to serve on PTO committees, coach sports or participate in weekend activities at OLG. All are welcome!
